Bottom’s up! Get bulk lollies for these yummy cocktails
Okay, are all the kids gone yet?
Good! Now we can start talking about lolly drinks!
This week, we’re sharing five of our favourite sweet drinks you can make when you buy bulk lollies online from MyLollies. We’ll cheers to that!
Lolly cocktails: the perfect complement for your lolly buffet
You’re busy planning out your event or party.
You’ve decided on a lolly buffet and bought enough bulk lollies for a lifetime. Now all you need is a drink – both for yourself (planning is hard, after all), and for the drinks menu!
While “lollies” and “alcohol” might not be two words you hear together very often, lolly drinks can be a great complement to your lolly-infused celebration.
If you ask us, lollies in Australia aren’t just a kid thing – there’s nothing wrong with using a lolly buffet for “grown-up” events like an upcoming wedding reception, a company event, a hen’s night, or bridal shower.
Looking for lolly-infused suggestions to add to your drinks menu? We’ve got you covered!
Create your own lolly cocktails: 5 recipes to get you started
1) Gummi-infused vodka
Vodka is one of the world’s most iconic spirits (it’s the world’s second-most popular, in fact) and gummi bears are one of the most iconic lollies – naturally, this makes these two an instant classic!
Of course, we aren’t just talking about using gummi bears as a decoration – you can take it even further and create gummi-infused vodka.
The process is simple:
- Fill a large bowl or mason jar with your favourite gummy bears
- Top up with your choice of vodka (mid-tier vodka is our recommendation)
- Seal and let the mixture sit in the fridge for 24 hours
Once you’re done, simply remove the gummi bears et voila – you’re left with a bowl of gummi-infused vodka, ready to serve.
And what to do with the leftover gummi bears? Why, serve them as part of your lolly buffet, of course!
Of course, gummi bears aren’t the only lollies you can try this with – feel free to experiment with lollies such as Allen’s snakes and different lolly flavours until you land on a combo that you can’t resist.
2) Margaritas made with Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice… and Skittles?
Yep, you heard us right!
While the colour may not look like a traditional margarita, adding Skittles to your margarita can certainly give it a unique sugar kick you won’t find elsewhere!
Just like the gummi vodka recipe listed above, it all starts by infusing your alcohol – in this case, the Tequila – using more-or-less the same technique.
Unlike the gummi example, Skittles don’t take anywhere near as long – simply give your container a couple of good shakes, and you should see the infusion process begin before your very eyes!
For the most consistent result, isolate your Skittles by flavour before mixing them into the container with your Tequila.
Once that’s ready, set the mixture aside. When the big day arrives, simply make the rest of your margarita the way you’d normally make it.
Looking for an extra burst of sugar? Consider adding simple syrup to the mixture and swapping out the Cointreau for Triple Sec.
3) “A Skittle martini, shaken, not stirred…”
For a sweeter take on this all-time classic, look no further than a Skittle martini!
While traditional Martinis are made of gin and vermouth, we’re going to break with tradition and sub out some of the traditional ingredients for an even stronger burst of sweetness.
To make this, you’ll need:
- Lemon lime soda
- Sweet & sour mixers
- Vodka
To start with, infuse the vodka using the same method listed in recipe #2, again choosing your favourite Skittles flavour.
Next, toss it into a mixer with one shot of your mixer for each shot of infused vodka and shake, before straining into a martini glass and topping off with your lemon lime soda.
As with all these recipes, feel free to switch out the Skittles for your favourite lolly – can’t resist classic Raspberries from Allens? If so, feel free to use them instead (just we aware that they may take longer to infuse as a result).
Sure, it may not fit on the set of a Bond film, but it’ll certainly fit with your lolly buffet!
4) Combine class and sweetness with rock candy champagne
For a simple and quick way to sweeten up your favourite bubbly, consider dropping a couple of pieces of rock candy into your bottle after you open it.
Yep, that’s really all there is to it!
Just drop them straight in and they should start infusing immediately.
Give them a couple of minutes, and they should be mostly dissolved, and your champagne will have transformed from its signature pale yellow to… whatever colour rock candy you’ve chosen!
For example, say you choose classic raspberry drops, you can expect your champagne to take on a reddish tone after a couple of minutes.
5) Want something light and fluffy? Choose a fairy floss martini
Want something that looks as sweet as it tastes? Consider adding a fairy floss martini to your drinks menu!
For this recipe, you’ll need:
- Vodka
- Raspberry vodka
- Cranberry juice
- Fairy floss (naturally!)
Simply combine 1.5 shots vodka with half a shot of raspberry vodka and a shot of cranberry juice, shaking it until chilled.
Once that’s done, take your fairy floss and put a big gob of it into a chilled martini glass.
The last step? Strain and watch the fairy floss dissolve before your eyes.
Just be sure to serve it quickly before the fairy floss is completely gone!
